Transient Response Analysis of Head Magnetic Field

JMAG is being used for developing magnetic recording heads. The data storage density obtainable using magnetic recording continues to increase at an incredible rate. Modeling technology to accurately represent the three-dimensional shapes of components such as yokes and coils is essential for analyzing magnetic heads. In order to evaluate response properties, eddy current analysis is also imperative. JMAG includes an automatic mesh generator that enables complex three-dimensional geometry, such as magnetic heads to be meshed taking into account the thin skin depth, and allows for efficient and precise analysis. Automatic meshing allows for easy modification of the geometry or shape (See Figure 2).

Variations of head magnetic field with time

JMAG uses FEM edge element for the analysis, and so provides fast and consistent solutions even with a large number of elements. Figure 3 shows the variations of the head magnetic field against time, obtained from a JMAG calculation.
